Baby Doll for Mommy Only

Ella is starting to turn into more of a person than a baby!  Over the past week she has started "walking"!!! Walking is a relative term at the moment because she goes like 5 steps, then collapses onto her knees.  She gets really proud of herself and will often clap once she's down!! :)  It's just precious and she's improving everyday!  She's also starting to want to "mother" her stuffed animals and dolls.  In particular, she likes to try to feed Mouse her bottle (yes, she's still drinking her bottle) and put him in the Cozy Coupe to take rides.  There is also a doll that Mimi and Papa gave her for Christmas that she just discovered over the weekend and is totally into    (Thanks Mimi and Papa)!  We are calling the doll Baby because it looks like a real little baby and may help Ella get use to the idea of a baby!  Anyway, if we say, "Ella, where is Baby?" she will go find Baby and bring her to ME...the key word is ME.  She will not let Brent hold Baby!!  If I hand Brent Baby, she will immediately take her away from Brent--and I mean yank her away--and carry her back to me and clap!!  Then, she will cut her eyes over at Brent like, "She's not for you"!  This is absolutely hilarious to watch in person.  One time, she took Baby away from Brent, handed her to me, clapped, then looked at Brent stuck her tongue out and made only what I can describe as a fake "passing gas" noise at him.  We seriously almost lost it.  We have decided that she associates baby care with mommy.  This is ironic because Brent has done a lot of her care from day one.  However, it must be that she equates me with being home all the time and taking care of her 24/7...who knows!  We are amazed that she has some sort of reasoning skills to only want me to hold the baby.  Brent is allowed to hold Mouse, but NOT Baby!  Poor Brent, I just want her to let him hold her...Brent finds this situation hysterical so he's a good sport.  We did have one break-through last night, Brent was allowed to hold Baby for about 30 seconds before she took her and put her in the stroller...at least she didn't take her away and give her to me!  Silly Ella...We never know what she's going to next, but it's always something!!  She's a character for sure!! ***Please note, we are trying to get her to share with Daddy...we're not just letting her baby doll shun him...but it's a work in progress!!
