Pumpkins in the Patch

It's fall, y'all!  October wouldn't be complete without a trip to the pumpkin patch.  Confession: we did not take Ella to the pumpkin patch last year...she was on her fourth ear infection that she couldn't seem to shake for most of the month of October, so we opted out of that first year experience. Ava Jane on the other hand, had her first pumpkin patch experience at 4 months old...I guess 1 for 2 isn't too bad.

Last Saturday, we headed to Woodstock to Berry's Farm to experience fall fabulousness.  We met the Smiths--Laura, Kyle, and precious Henry--- on a beautiful, breezy fall morning.  Poor little Henry wasn't feeling his best that day, but he was quite a trooper.  Turns out his ear infection had come back...but he was we still as sweet as always.  Ella loves spending time with Baby HeHe!

When we got there, Brent, Ella, Ava Jane, and I road the hayride out to the patch.  The patch was divided into two sections...the small pumpkins and gourds and the big pumpkins.  Ella LOVED the little pumpkins and gourds and was running around collecting as many "goads" as she could hold.  She even tried to put a "goad" in her mouth as you can tell by the picture with dirt all over her face.  Ava Jane just relaxed and soaked in the scenery...then slept most of the day.  After some time in the little patch, we met up with the Smiths and headed to the BIG pumpkin patch.  Ella thought it was fun...but not nearly as cool as the small pumpkin patch.  She also loved watching the tractor pull the hayride and kind of just ran around taking everything in.

After some photo ops in the the patch, we had a delicious picnic lunch by the pond complete with sandwiches and cookies from Henri's in Atlanta.  This was a treat for us suburban folks!  Lunch was followed by scoping out the baby animals which Ella LOVED and getting some homemade cider, fried apple pies, and boiled peanuts...yum!  After the Smiths left, we ran into Jenny, Trey, and Baby Ward and got to chat with them for a bit.  What an added bonus...Ward has gotten so big and is so adorable!! The day was wonderful and both girls slept soundly on the way home.  I'd say our first family pumpkin patch trip was a success and that our little pumpkins were the sweetest in the patch!
