You Know You're the Child of a Dentist When...

You know you're a child of a Dentist when one of your favorite words is "Teeth" pronounced  tee.  Ella loves to say teeth, point to her teeth, and try to touch your teeth!!  It all started when she HATED brushing her teeth.  So we would talk it up to her, "Ooohhh, Ella, do you want to brush your teeth...so fun!!"  We'd have to just kind of do it despite her objection and when we were done we'd clap and act really excited and yell yay!!  Then she started clapping when we were done (even if she was fussy while we brushed).  This all evolved into her being okay with brushing, although she's not always a fan.  BUT, after the end of each brushing she still claps and says some version of yay!

For her birthday, our friends Megan and John gave her a bath book and some bath toys...which she loves.  The book is about Elmo getting clean.  It shows two kids brushing their teeth on one of the pages.  I was telling Ella that they were brushing their teeth and she got really excited and started saying "tee, tee" pointing to their mouths. This evolved into her pulling out the book and finding the tooth brushing page and showing me the tee.  Now, she'll show you teeth on everything (mommy, daddy, stuffed animals, animals in books, etc.)...and she especially wants to touch our teeth...which I think is gross so we don't let her do that...but she can point to them!

So, I'd say Brent has done his job as a pediatric dentist to raise dental awareness in our house.  One of Ella's first 25 words was teeth.  Kudos to him!  And thanks to Megan and John for the book.  She reads it at least 5 times a day...such an educational and fun gift!!

Maybe this means Ella will be a dentist too?  If you're ever in the neighborhood and need a dental exam, stop on by.  Ella would be happy to look in your mouth and identify that you have teeth...she's getting her practice with giving dental exams early in life!  Happy Tuesday-- and don't forget to brush and floss your teeth...Per Drs.
